REACHING EUROPE SUMMER REPORT 2016
View this email in your browser
We have just finished our first term as missionaries to Europe and are stateside for a short itineration beginning in July.  We came back a little early for Phyllis to be ordained at the Pen Florida District Council in May. I’m so proud of her!

We will be traveling over the next few months to let our supporters know how much we appreciate the incredible help we receive from them.  It would be great to see everyone, but we’ll only be home a short time, June through August and then November through December.

We do have some open dates for services and would love to come and give a report of what God is doing in Europe.  If we do not get to your church, thank you for helping us minister to students at Continental Theological Seminary and in International Churches across the continent of Europe.
NEW PHONE NUMBERS FOR ITINERATION
Our phone numbers for the time we are in the United States for itineration have changed.

WHAT ARE OUR ITINERATION NEEDS AND GOALS?
Many have asked us what our needs are during this itineration cycle.  Here is a breakdown:
  • We are in need of a small Suv to drive during our itineration travels
  • AGWM is requesting that we raise an additional $1,000 in monthly support and
  • $20,000 cash budget
We need your prayers!  Prayers for safety and for favor to get the job done so that we can return to Europe to do our part in helping to reach the 700 million + souls who do not yet know the Savior. With less than 3% of Europe’s population knowing Christ, with many communities inundated with refugees living in squalor and with the rise of terrorism, the task is daunting in the natural but not for the Holy Spirit.  Most Europeans are deeply troubled and many are afraid, and this is our moment.  When people pray, things happen!
CONTINENTAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
It has been a real joy to be able to work on the staff at Continental Theological Seminary (CTS).  The stories of the students, called of God, to serve His Church are compelling.  Many come from difficult circumstances but have experienced the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit.  Would you believe that the fathers of two of our students were witch doctors? Yet, through the power of the Holy Spirit, these students are now training to lead churches in Europe one day.  To God be the glory!  And there are so many other stories to tell…
TARGET SOUTHERN BELGIUM
Much of the Luxembourg Province in southern Belgium is entirely without an evangelical witness – no stand alone churches, no storefront churches, no house churches…nothing! This scenario is repeated throughout Europe.  The Pentecostal European Fellowship (PEF) and CTS are targeting 16 communities this year in the Luxembourg Province for church plants with CTS students serving as pastors. Please pray with us that this will be accomplished!  Here’s a report on the 16 communities:

REACHING EUROPE SPRING REPORT
View this email in your browser
Spring Report 2016
The other day we were reflecting on how we so often take things for granted and forget how blessed we are on so many different levels. Then something happens to change our world, something that awakens our gratitude.

We are forever grateful today for the hand of protection on our entire team of 54 missionaries in Belgium during the recent terror attacks in Brussels. We all use the airport and metro system on a regular basis, but on that day, we were all safe. We continue to thank God for His protection - may we never forget!

Belgium, and really all of Europe, is a different place today, and there is a general spirit of fear.  Many people who have depended for many years on public transportation are refusing to ride the metro and buses.  The first flights out of the Brussels airport since the bombing left last Sunday, April 3, and they are expecting full capacity by June 30.  However, many regular flights like the one we booked to return for itineration have been canceled for at least a year, and we scrambled to secure a new flight.

Threatening terror attacks have been called the new normal for Europe, but in reality, as believers our normal is not new. Trust in God is our normal. He hasn't changed, He’s not threatened and our times are in His hands.  Thank you for your prayers!!  It’s a constant source of encouragement to us to know our partners are covering us with prayer.
NAMUR, BELGIUM
Namur is a historic city!  It was a trading post in Celtic times. It has been ruled by Rome under Julius Caesar, the Counts of Flanders and Burgundy, then the Spanish Netherlands, Austria, France and Germany.  It was the place of key battles in WW1 and the Battle of the Ardennes and Battle of the Bulge in WW2.

An effort of reconciliation for all churches in this capital of Wallonia in southern Belgium has been going on for over two years.  Although there was a desire to reconcile their many differences, it seemed impossible at first; but slowly pastors from all denominations made progress and developed a framework to meet. They hammered out a service order and then selected a speaker, who happened to be a Pentecostal pastor from Montreal.
Suddenly after Claude Houde’s message, there was a focus on forgiveness, and miracles began to happen among Protestants, Evangelicals, Catholics and Pentecostals.  It has been said that Wallonie is the darkest spot, spiritually, in all of Europe.
We are thrilled at what God is doing and are looking forward to the Hope, through the Gospel.  We pray this spirit of forgiveness will spread throughout Europe and that we will see the miraculous!
INTERNATIONAL TRAVELS
In addition to the opportunity to pastor and mentor the pastoral students at Continental Theological Seminary during the week, we are invited to minister in churches and conferences throughout Europe on the weekends.  Along with regular ministry in Malmö, Sweden, and Grenoble, France, we traveled to Zagreb, Croatia where Pentecostal leaders from 30 countries gathered for the annual Pentecostal European Fellowship Conference.  Phyllis was guest speaker for the PEF Woman’s meeting and enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship and sharing.

Needless to say, our days are full, and sometimes we wake in the morning and for a moment forget what city we’re in, but we never forget our mission, our call - that all may know Him!
Wow! How time flies! We are just completing our first term on the field and scheduled for itineration.  We’re looking forward to this opportunity for many reasons because we want to…

  • THANK YOU for your prayers and financial support that keep us going and keep us safe
  • REPORT on what is happening for the Kingdom on the continent of Europe. In spite of all the negative news, we have a good and encouraging report of how God is using the negative events here to open doors for us. Pastors in Europe are actually asking us to come and speak on the baptism of the Holy Spirit!  They understand that only the Holy Spirit's power will carry them through these troubled times.
  • And yes, raise the funds that allow us to respond to the invitations to minister and mentor with: YES, WE’LL COME! OUR FRIENDS AND PARTNERS HAVE PROVIDED THE WAY!!
We have a few dates open in May, July, November, December and January and would love to connect for a service, a window or an appointment with you.

Many Blessings!
Tom and Phyllis

REACHING EUROPE WINTER REPORT
View this email in your browser

“EUROPE has lost its soul, and must rediscover its moral mission if it is to survive…”

Recently a veteran missionary of over 20 years in Europe remarked to us how much Europe has changed over the last several years.  We responded that we can’t believe how much Europe has changed over the last 2½ years!  Europe is not the same place it was when we arrived in 2013!

The social, economic and religious landscape across Europe has changed dramatically. The refugee situation reaching from Greece to Sweden, from Belgium to Romania, and beyond has impacted this continent financially and socially in ways most of us never imagined.  The recent terrorist attacks have made Europeans unsettled, searching for answers and somewhat afraid, and guess what?  This is our moment!

"Europe has lost its soul — its real sense of both what it essentially is and why it exists," he writes. To develop a meaningful identity, it must remember its Christian roots. (churchtimes.co.uk/quoting Theos)

Europe’s lost soul is not anything new and we desire more for Europe than just remembering its Christian roots.  This is our moment to bring an answer that won’t be found anywhere outside of the love of God and saving power of His Son.

Pray for us, pray for our Assemblies of God missionary team throughout Europe and pray for all those shining the light of Jesus on this continent.  And please pray for boldness, protection and wisdom as we seize the moment.
The 2016 Winter Semester at CTS is off to a great start.  Returning students and new students alike are filled with excitement about this semester’s possibilities.  Our weekdays are filled with chapel services, prayer meetings and mentoring, and we love it!  We sense in our students a greater hunger for the Lord than ever and a determination to make a difference.  Faculty and staff are full engaged, preparing them for this moment…
While our weekdays are spent with the students at CTS, our weekend ministry takes us all over Europe.  Over the past few weeks we have ministered in:
  • Sweden at ICF Malmo
  • Grenoble, France at the Refuge Grenoble
  • Las Palmas, Spain at Christian Life International
  • Antwerp Centraal Church with Robert Suarez
  • Brussels at The Bridge
  • Leuven Christ Centered Church
All are colorful International Churches.  Some meet in storefronts, one meets in a Subway sandwich shop and another in a burger place, but it doesn’t matter where they meet. One Sunday morning we were ministering in Las Palmas, Spain, and 10 people were filled with the Holy Spirit – they’re hungry and it’s not for sandwiches.  All of them are thriving churches fully engaged in the moment.
In just a few months, we will complete our first term as missionaries to Europe.  WOW!  Time has flown by!  We will begin a short itineration - July through December 2016 – to give a report to you of what is happening across Europe, to say a huge THANK YOU for making it possible and to raise funds to return.  We’re open to whatever way you will allow us to do it – we have some moments to share!

God bless,
Tom and Phyllis

2015 Fall Report
View this email in your browser
2015 FALL REPORT

Europe is a beautiful place in the fall.  From our travels to Slovakia, France, Germany and Sweden, we’ve watched the leaves slowly change to a vibrant landscape of color.  But an even more dramatic change is taking place in the cultural landscape across Europe with refugees pouring in from the Middle East in numbers too large to accurately count.  Many Europeans have responded with disgust and alienation, but we’re happy to report that the Fellowship of European International Churches (FEIC) that we work with has seized this opportunity to reach refugees from Muslims countries where the message of Jesus is forbidden.  What a time for the Church here!

THE REFUGEE STORY
Follow the Pipeline…
Due to security reasons, we’re unable to give details, but our International Church in Greece is receiving dozens of refugees each week, many are Syrians.  The church provides food, clothing and spiritual guidance and directs them to a Syrian Church where many are receiving Christ and are baptized. Often our pastors pray for the sick because so many are in desperate need of healing – physical, emotional and spiritual.
The story doesn’t end there…
The refugees are only in Greece a short time and then spread throughout Europe, seeking a new home. Our pastor from the International Christian Fellowship in Malmo, Sweden, reported this story:  More and more Muslims in Sweden are converting to Christianity, says the Arabic speaking Pastor Merzek Botros who came to Sweden for a concert, visited a Christian church for free coffee and cake but felt something special there. He says, ‘As a Muslim, even though he prayed 5 times a day, he never felt God's presence. In Christianity, it's something totally different.’  During the Arabic speaking Christian conference here in Sweden, the majority of the 500 participants were former Muslims. There is Power in the Holy Spirit!!
The response to this report from our pastor in Greece was this:  “Wow, what a wonderful testimony! So many who are leaving Athens are headed up there. Several families left for Sweden this past week who became believers in our ministry. We are planting seeds, you guys are watering the seeds, and there's a great harvest of souls!! No matter how weary we are, our efforts are not in vain as we work TOGETHER for His kingdom. When we all get to heaven we will see the partnership come full circle! We pray every day the Lord will link up our contacts with you guys up there or in other places in Europe.”
And where we live…
Many of the Afghans, Iraqis and Syrians who have passed through Greece and Maceconia have ended up in Belgium.  We’ve been asked to oversee the Belgium field response to the refugee situation in Brussels. In late August the government was processing less than 250 people a day so the lines and their needs continued to grow.  They had no where to go so they began to sleep in Maximilian Park across the street from the World Trade Center.  Many volunteers and several NGO"s began to work together, feeding, clothing, providing for personal needs including medical help.  We were able to be involved and working with Michael MacNamee and Convoy of Hope Europe, set up a tent as a meeting place for our volunteers to be able to meet with refugees.  We met and prayed with people from Iran, Iraq, Afganistan, Syria, Somalia and Morocco.

Soon, however, the tent city was taken down and refugees are now kept at the Red Cross until they receive temporary permits.  Often they run out of beds and supplies.  We are able to help when these emergencies arise, usually on Sunday nights and the day after holidays.  We also take water and waffles to those who wait hours in line to receive their temporary documents.

European governments are struggling with how to handle this sudden phenomenon. For us, it is a great opportunity to share God's love with people who are in life transition moments.  Please be in prayer with us to be effective in this great ministry.
CONTINENTAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
The theme chosen by President Joseph Dimitrov for the school year at CTS is taken from the parable in Luke 18, “When the Son of Man comes will He find faith on the earth?” (8)  Posing this question to each of us, the President encouraged the staff and growing student body to be found faithful to the Lord especially in the area of prayer.  This is  happening!  Over the past two years, many students have met with Tom on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for prayer.  Attendance is not compulsory, but they come with hungry hearts, special needs and a desire to see revival come to Europe. God is honoring their faithfulness!  We’ve seen many answered prayers, salvations and miracles – growing the faith in our students.  Will He find faith at CTS?  Yes!

We don’t take lightly our responsibility to help develop the spiritual life of students at CTS, students who will go back to the 30 countries they represent and minister the gospel to a hurting world.  We covet your prayers!

THANKSGIVING

Our hearts are filled with gratitude today for your faithful support of our mission.  You probably hear it quite often from missionaries, but we really couldn’t do it without you!  When we look at our monthly list of partners, we are always humbled by your generous heart…always.  It’s never taken for granted because we understand the depth of the sacrifices made and the commitments kept by you to keep us on our mission.

With grateful hearts we pray God’s abundant blessings on you,

Tom and Phyllis

SPRING 2015 REPORT
View this email in your browser
Dear Friends,

We trust the glorious blessing of the cross and the empty tomb has thrilled your hearts during this Easter season like it has ours.  Living in a culture where this good news is unknown or at best passé, we are ever grateful that you have sent us to join an army of messengers to proclaim the story of the Living Christ.  2015 has found us busy and captivated by our mission – here are some highlights:
JANUARY
Chi Alpha loves World Missions and it was a joy to share with hundreds of students at 2015 Salt Conferences in Indiana, Montana and Tennessee about the great opportunity at Continental Theological Seminary (CTS Brussels) to further their education while ministering abroad.  Our hearts desire is that they will come to study and to minister and that the great need to reach the lost of Europe will capture their hearts.
Many students and leaders expressed interest in CTS and we pray that God will open wide the doors for them to come.  Special thanks to Mario Solari, Jonathan Miller, Steve Lehman, Daniel Miller and Craig Woodham for the privilege of sharing information about the many opportunities available at CTS.
FEBRUARY
SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK 2015 AT CTS WAS AMAZING!!  Under the anointed ministry of Dean Niforatos (Global Outreach Foundation), our students were touched by the power of God and their lives forever changed.  As with last year, every seeking student was filled with the Holy Spirit, and this year they were immediately called upon to pray with others to receive the Holy
Spirit:  One night during the meetings, a pastor and his church of brand new believers attended our service.  When Dean called forward those who desired the baptism of the Holy Spirit, every one of them came forward!!  And even more exciting, CTS students prayed with them and they all received the gift of the Holy Spirit including the pastor’s nine year old son!

The Tuesday and Thursday night prayer meetings that we started last year are now student-led and the College Chapel has become a place of prayer. We praise the Lord for this and for how we see our students growing in Him.  Great days ahead for CTS!
NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP of Rotterdam, Netherlands, has a wonderful congregation!  Many thanks to Pastors Andre and Lydia Canlas for the opportunity to spend a weekend with these great friends when we spoke for their annual Church Family Retreat.  The presence of the Holy Spirit blessed our meetings as we addressed topics on the family, marriage and communication.
MARCH
In March we were privileged to attend the Pentecostal European Fellowship’s (PEF) annual meeting of ministers from across Europe which convened in Amsterdam.  If we heard it once, we heard it 20 times – there’s something new happening across Europe, a new optimism, a new unity.  This has not been the dialogue of the past.  We are excited!
One speaker was none other than Daniel Kolenda, one of our Florida PK’s who is now preaching to hundreds of thousands around the world. He inspired us, “Evangelism should flow from a baptism of love, humility and faith, not from a lecture or from guilt.”

Our take-away from the PEF Conference:  Europe is not too dark, not too lost for God to change it, but we’ll only see it if we believe it can happen and if we move forward with unity in our hearts.
We are thrilled to participate in the very beginnings of University Campus Ministriesin Malmo, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark.  God sovereignly called and put together teams of mostly Europeans to reach these large campuses.   Malmo University has 24,000 students without even one Christian prayer meeting or witness.  The itineration process that we know in the United States is foreign to European churches so these workers have a difficult task ahead in raising their funds.  Please pray with us that churches and individuals will catch the vision and support these new vital works.
In addition to these opportunities, we have preached on Sundays in Belgian, Swedish and International Churches and have found a desperate hunger for more of God.  European Christians realize that their continent is under attack spiritually by Islam and other forces and God is their only answer. As always, we conduct the daily chapel services at CTS and rejoice that God’s presence is touching the lives of our students.

We have been invited by our Area Director, Tim Southerland, to join the Northwest Europe Leadership Team to serve as Field Directors for Belgium, effective May 1.  We’ll continue to serve as Campus Pastors at CTS and work across Europe with the International Church Network, but in addition we are privileged to serve the team of missionaries in Belgium. We are asking God to keep our missionary family strong in Him, relevant  for Him and led by Him.

Needless to say, your support and prayers are invaluable to us and our gratitude is beyond measure.  Together, we will make a difference in Europe.

Many blessings,
Tom and Phyllis

Summer Report 2014
CTS Graduation
What a great summer!  It started with graduation at CTS in May.  Our commencement speaker, Dr. Greg Mundis, challenged our graduates and sent them out into the harvest field.  Pastors, counselors, teachers – who knows the doors that God will open for them!
Summer Ministry
A huge THANK YOU to Pen Florida District Youth for our Speed-the-Light car, a 2014 Qashqai, that enabled us to minister this summer in Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, France and Austria – over 15,000 kilometers!
Our travels included:

  • Caorle, Italy - We enjoyed so much our fellowship at the annual FEIC Relational Retreat where we engaged and prayed with international church pastors from across Europe.
  • Malmo, Sweden – It was a joy to minister for 2 weeks each month this summer at the PingstförsamlingInternational Christian Fellowship in both the English and Swedish services.
  • Bratislava, Slovakia – Joined with the Pentecostal European Fellowship (PEF) for their outreach targeting the city of Bratislava.  It was one week of intensive prayer, ministry and evangelism.  Many came to the Lord and only time will tell the impact that was made for the Kingdom.
  • Senec, Slovakia – Tom ministered in the Apostolic (AG) Church in Senec, Slovakia, where he met Pastor Patrick Hipp and his wife, Susan.  Patrick pastors the church as well as teaches in both the Slovak University and the Assemblies of God (Apostolic) Pastoral Training Center.
  • Paris, France – It was great to visit once again The Bridge International Church in Paris with Pastors Todd and Amanda Tyson.  A special treat was hearing Kelly Delp, a missionary candidate with us, preach that morning.  We were privileged to promote CTS to the congregation and spoke with potential students following the service.
  • Vienna, Austria – Two weeks in July were spent renewing friendships and preaching for the International Fellowship of Vienna Christian Center. Several were filled with the Holy Spirit as we experienced God’s presence in our services.
  • Belgium – ministry in churches in Brussels and Liege
  • Las Palmas - Tom ministered at Christian Life International Church in Las Palmas for three Sundays in September, filling in for missionary Steve Robertson.
Summer was exciting, exhausting at times and filled with new places and new faces. The International Church network in Europe continues to grow despite the secularism of Europe.  We were encouraged in our travels this summer to discover hearts that are hungry for the Lord and for His power in their lives.  Every country here is challenged and concerned about the growth of Islam and eastern religions and the politics and lifestyles they bring.  And God loves them all and is not willing that any should perish!
Testimony
HERE is an encouraging story, one of many, that shows us that God is up to something in Europe!
It was a great privilege to meet Ahmad!  Ahmad was a very successful businessman in Iran.  He was a devoted Muslim, studied Islam and had many influential Muslim leaders as friends, but his family was in shambles.  Divorced, angry and drinking, he ultimately moved to Sweden to be near his children and started having strange dreams that he didn’t understand.

Ahmad ended up in a spirit-filled church seeking answers for his problems and for the dreams he was having and there he found the Lord Jesus as his Savior and was filled with the Holy Spirit.  He now leads the large Iranian Christian Fellowship in Malmo, Sweden with over 200 members.

We’re hearing stories like this over and over again, where the Lord visits Muslims in dreams and visions.  God is reaching the Muslims of Europe in ways we never imagined.
We’re looking forward to another great year at CTS. Enrollment is up and we’re anticipating a year of academic excellence, growth and spiritual renewal.  Pray with us that every student will not only receive the education they expect but will also receive the touch from God that they need.
OUR THANKS
Thank you for partnering with us and praying for us as we serve as Campus Pastor at Continental Theological Seminary (CTS) and minister with the Fellowship of European International Churches (FEIC).  Our desire is to be led by the Spirit in all that we do and say.  Your role in our ministry here is vital and appreciated from the depths of our hearts.  Our prayers are extended for you in this same way, that God will bless you and guide you each and every day!

Many blessings,
Tom and Phyllis

SPRING 2014
The constant Challenge to our forever Goal!

We love International Churches in Europe! Colorful, lively, diverse – International Communities coming together to worship and serve the Lord.  A little bit of heaven on earth!

Tom preached in INTERNATIONAL and NATIONAL churches alike over the past quarter - Assemblies of God, independent, Nigerian and EVEN Baptist.  The Holy Spirit has blessed and anointed each service.  We thank Him for His faithfulness and presence to change lives.
In February, Phyllis ministered at the Annual Women’s Retreat at Christian Center in Brussels. “Positioned for Purpose” was her theme, sharing the beautiful story of Esther.  Many were blessed and reports are still coming in of new commitments and growth.  Praise the Lord!
We look forward over the next few months of opportunities to minister in churches from Sweden and Italy to the Canary Islands.

We’ve been busy, exhausted at times, but we love it!  Our days are spent growing young ministry students in the things of God, at CTS, as well as encouraging and equipping churches to reach the lost.

Our GOAL in all we do? To help break the dismal statistic of only 3% in Europe who know Christ – Break Thru, Break Free!  Dozens of dedicated missionaries have laid the foundation over many years to see the Lord break thru the darkness in Europe.  Please PRAY with us!  EUROPE’S TIME IS NOW!
INTERNATIONAL CHURCH NEWS: Europe’s International Church network is partnering with the Eurasia field in a Strategic International Church Planting and Development initiative. The goal?

  • Place church-planting staff in specific target cities in these regions
  • Launch 33 NEW church plants in Eurasia
  • Launch 50 new church plants in Europe

The FUTURE is hopeful, the GOAL is feasible.  Pray for laborers to respond to the CALL!  Watch the Video.
“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” Hab 2:2

When asked last summer by President Dimitrov to serve as Campus Pastor at Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels, I was excited for the opportunity to work once again with young adults.  Immediately, God placed a vision in my heart for the school year and His intent for these students who would one day leave CTS to reach Europe and the world.

God’s mandate was to provide every opportunity for our students to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to develop a dynamic prayer life.  So every chapel service the first semester was spent casting the vision and providing a Holy Spirit atmosphere...writing plainly on the tablets of their hearts.

Last week the students left for their Mission Outreach Week to not only Belgium and Europe but to countries all over the world...full of the Holy Spirit and ready to herald the message of Jesus, ready to run with it!  We can’t wait to hear their reports!
Early February began our Spiritual Emphasis Week with missionary evangelist Dean Niforatos, and Phyllis and I knew that God was up to something. Through Dean’s anointed and compelling ministry, every student was filled with the Holy Spirit!!!  Things were different on campus with students hungrier for God than ever before.
We began prayer meetings every Tuesday and Thursday evenings with dozens attending, students praying for each other and for the needs of families, friends and churches. We’ve seen miracles take place over and over again.
CTS Serving
CIVIC DUTY- in early March the COMMUNE leaders asked the community to participate in a special "Clean-up the Commune" event.  The students at CTS gladly joined in the community event and collected 30 bags of trash from the streets of  Sint-Pieters-
Leeuw – keeping their testimony in word and deed. Even though it rained, we ended the day with hamburgers on the grill!
MANY THANKS to Pen Florida DYD Al and Jinny Force, Hilton Burkholter and their team for a week of GREAT ministry at CTS and Breaking Chains Ministry. Al and Hilton challenged CTS students as they shared in Chapel and special seminars on Student Leadership. It’s always a JOY for us to fellowship with our dynamic DYD!
INSTITUTE OF ISLAMIC STUDIES

The Institute of Islamic Studies at Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels offers intensive, one-week courses on Islam to prepare students for direct ministry to Muslims. Offered in an
English-language international context, the courses involve classroom teaching as well as field experience in Brussels where the Muslim population is more than 15%.

Engaging Islam will be offered September 1-5, 2014 – Overview of Islam, Islamic sects, the identity of women, Islam in Europe, contemporary global Islam and bridges for communicating with Muslims.

Christian-Muslim Theological Issues will be offered September 8-12, 2014 - Examination of the theological challenges of Islam and the Christian response. Key theological differences with special emphasis placed upon biblical references. After studying the congruencies and divergences between Christianity and Islam, the course offers applications for communicating the Gospel.
Thank you for your prayers and support for our mission – together we are making a difference!  All glory and praise to our faithful Lord!

“I stand in awe, O Lord, of your work. In our own time revive it...make it known.” Hab 3:2

Running with it,
Tom
- PRAYER changes everything –
PRAY WITH US
  • Visa issues for Phyllis preventing travel outside of Belgium.  We need a miracle.
  • God’s guidance in the new Strategic initiative for Europe and Eurasia
  • Continued move of the Holy Spirit at CTS
  • Strength and good health for the busy days ahead
  • Europe’s return to a personal relationship with God

Reaching Europe Winter 2013
View this email in your browser
Dear Friends,
September 20 we hit the ground running in Europe and we’ve been running ever since. That’s just how we like it!  Within hours of our arrival, we met with a group of students from Continental Theological Seminary (CTS) for a time of fellowship and understood instantly one reason why God called us to Europe. We are standing in front of CTS, a historic structure built sometime before 1176.  Tom is the new Campus Pastor at CTS and there’s nothing we enjoy more than mentoring students.
CTS is celebrating its 55th year of equipping and sending to date 2,500 Christian leaders/pastors to ministries throughout Europe and the world.  An international Bible College, students come from places like Uganda, Cameroon, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, the United States and all over Europe.  Most have left families, jobs and friends and sacrificed much to attend so they are serious about the call of God on their lives.
At the close of our daily chapel services, the altars are often filled with students crying out to God for a greater touch of the Holy Spirit in their lives—they’re hungry!  We feel right at home!!  We are using our experience and passion of 40 years in youth and young adult ministry to send out students from CTS as church leaders equipped to serve and full of the Holy Spirit – the BEST tools to change the dark continent of Europe!
In November, students and faculty alike were challenged at our powerful Missions Convention with speaker Tony Ibarra (foreground), Filipino pastor/overseer of five international churches in Germany. The message was clear, the challenge was given – Europe’s time is now!
We love our role assisting the International Church network in Europe (FEIC). In October we ministered at the annual Family Retreat for our International Church in Brussels, Christian Center, at a great retreat center in southern Belgium.  God’s presence touched our lives.  Later that month we traveled to beautiful Gutenstein, Austria, for the annual FEIC Retreat for international church leadership.  Phyllis shared in the pastor’s wives session and FEIC gave each one a copy of Intimate Moments with the Shepherd.http://feic.org/events/2013-summit/
The FEIC pastors are passionate and committed to reaching their cities for Christ, and we are humbled to join them in their journey. We look forward to more opportunities to minister in this network of churches as well as link our students from CTS as interns with these international ministries across Europe.

Just last Sunday we attended the dedication of a new international church ministry in Brussels, pastored by Bill Schwartz.  Five people responded to the invitation to receive Christ at the close of the dedication service.  Five new converts…at a dedication service…in Belgium!  In Europe, this is huge!  God is up to something on this continent!

        THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

We can’t say it enough – thank you for catching the vision and sending us to help change the spiritual darkness in Europe.  Every day we pray that the dismal number of 3% who know Christ in Europe will change, that the Holy Spirit will sweep across Europe in an unprecedented way and the number of true Christians will grow to rival the 48% of Christians in Africa. Let it be so, Lord!

In His great love,

Tom and Phyllis

Reaching Europe Summer 2013

Dear Friend,

There just are not enough ways to say thank you for making this day possible!  We have just received the GREEN LIGHT from AGWM!  Because of dear friends like you, we have raised the budget required for our ministry in Europe – HALLELUJAH!  We’re humbled by your generosity and excited to see God use our partnership for His Kingdom.

However, there is a holdup on the actual departure date.
We still have a couple of approvals to complete, the most important one being our Visa's.  We are waiting on one document from an office in Belgium that has been on vacation this month.  As soon as it arrives, we will have everything ready to make the actual application.  Then, we are told, it takes from two to six weeks to actually receive the visa.  Please pray with us that there will be no more delays.  So, we are expecting to be able to leave near the end of September.

Because of that, we have time to be with you for a service if we have not done so already.  Let me know if we could be with you or meet with a group in your church to talk about misions.

This is not an invitation, but you should see our house.  There are boxes everywhere as we downsize in preparation for the crate people to come and get our things ready for shipping.  It's hard to get from one room to the next.  We will sell everything else.  We are planning  to not take very much as we will be living in a small apartment.

It’s our prayer, our continual prayer, that God will bless you in all things.

In His great love,
Tom and Phyllis
CTS President Joseph Dimitrov announces Tom and Phyllis Benigas, from Florida in the USA, will join CTS in September. "Tom will serve as our new Campus Pastor and together with Phyllis will work for the spiritual well-being of the students and lead us in a deeper walk with God."
When we stepped away from 40 years in youth ministry three years ago, we thought this joy had come to an end, but then God allowed us to step into yet another dream of ours by joining the missionary team in Europe.  Now the door has opened to serve as missionaries and once again work with young adults. We are excited and blessed beyond measure!

We thank Dr. Dimitrov, an outstanding leader and man of God, for his confidence in us.  As we join with the staff at CTS, we desire nothing more than for all our efforts together to advance the kingdom of God in Europe through these young people.

In addition to this new role at Continental, we will continue to work with the ever-growing International Church network, FEIC, serving the great pastors of this vital ministry in 28 European countries.  Yes, we’ll be busy, but as your partners in Europe, we want to be good stewards with your investment.
According to an article in Christianity Today (Jul2012), “there are more than 200 million people living outside of their home country.”  They are coming to Europe from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, coming from parts of the world that may never see a missionary. International churches are providing “counseling, language training and prayer groups for those who struggle with loneliness, culture shock, language, bureaucratic hassles and homesickness.” A great opportunity today for the Church!

A cup of cold water, a hand up in Jesus’ name!  Isn’t that who the Church is for those in need?  No wonder FEIC has grown from just a handful of churches to over 55, probably 60 by year’s end. May the cities of Europe experience a new spirit, the Holy Spirit, changing the spiritual landscape of this Continent.
  • God’s direction in the decisions involved in packing, storing and moving
  • Peace for our family & us as we transition to Europe
  • Completion of the Visa process
  • Anointing and guidance as we prepare for our roles at Continental and with the International Churches
  • Health and strength in the days ahead

Missionary itineration is not for the faint of heart, but we are almost there at 75% in Faith Commitments! The end is in sight!  God’s faithfulness has been extraordinary and so has the faithfulness of His people.

The Europe field is anxious for us to arrive and we are ready in our hearts and minds to be there. If you haven’t already done so, this is the perfect moment for you to partner with us, fill out a Faith Commitment form and send us out.
Many continents around the world have experience revival over the past several years, and we believe EUROPE’S TIME IS NOW. Prayer will BREAK 3, break the shackles of secularism in Europe where less than 3% know Jesus in a personal way. This is our mission field!  When people pray, things happen!  Your support and prayer make all the difference!

In His great love,
Tom and Phyllis

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A BLESSED 2013, from the Benigas Family.

Amanda, Giana, Jett & Bryan Rule                   Tom & Phyllis                Lacey, Brady, Kaison & Karis

Merry Christmas!  Our hearts are full of Joy this Christmas Season as we celebrate the birth of our Lord along with our precious family and friends like you.  May all that we do and say be blessed with His Holy presence!

The Journey.  Over 40,000 miles traveled as we visited friends and churches in Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri and Colorado, Alabama and Florida and shared about our mission.  Our hearts are full of Thanksgiving for the warm hospitality we received and the generous response of our partners. We are eternally grateful.

The Mission.  Our hearts are full ofCompassion for the lost souls of Europe. This fall we once again had the opportunity to visit with many of the International Church pastors in Europe at their annual gathering – men and women who are passionate to see the spiritual climate of Europe change and to break the tragic reality of less than 3% having a personal experience with God. As our partners, you have partnered with these precious pastors as well.

The students of Continental Theological Seminary (CTS) are challenged by the tremendous need in Europe and have dedicated their young lives to reach their countries with the message of Jesus.  With our passion for young people, we are thrilled with the opportunity to link arms with CTS.  Many of Europe’s great revivals in the past began with students, and as our partners, you, too, have partnered with them to bring revival to Europe.

The Future.  Our hearts our full of happy Anticipation as we start the New Year. Like runners at the block, we’re waiting for the signal – the signal that funds are raised, visas granted and release from our leadership. We believe God has prepared us for this moment in time, and with excitement we are waiting for the signal to run!

May God’s glorious Presence, Provision and Protection fill your life during this Christmas Season and throughout the coming year!

In His great Love,
Tom and Phyllis

Benigas missions news for fall 2012

Fall 2012

Summer 2012 is now history.  School has started and families are getting back into the norm.  Our norm is continuing itineration to raise our budget as soon as possible for our mission to Europe.  The summer, however, was incredible!

Most of June was spent in Springfield atMissionary Training and Missionary Renewal where we met a host of new AGWM friends and future colleagues. Besides learning about many changes in the world of missions, we were inspired in our classes by the outstanding AGWM staff and especially challenged by Dr. Anita Koeshall who taught on Intercultural Communication, an important part of our work in Europe. On the final evening, Missionary David Lee

prayed for us at our commissioning as AG missionaries. We look forward to serving under the leadership of Europe Regional Directors Paul & Angie Trementozzi.  What a privilege to serve the Lord as part of His team of ambassadors to Europe!

Praise Report
Double blessing! We were in desperate need of a new computer, once again God reminded us that He knows our needs. Pastor Ted Cedarblom & Life 360 Church in Springfield hosted new missionaries one Sunday at MT and blessed each family with a great gift. Yes, we were given a new iPad!  But that wasn’t enough for God - Pastor Bryan & Jennifer Beittel & friends at Liberal, KS First AG purchased a laptop for Phyllis! Many thanks to these dear pastors. Our Faithful God knows where we are and what we need. Blessed beyond measure!
Prayer Requests
*Safety as we fly to Europe in October to meet with International church pastors at the FEIC Retreat.
*Like horses at the gate, we are ready to run! Pray for generous hearts to commit to our mission today.

38% of Americans claim a personal relationship with Jesus. Europe, with a population almost twice that of the U.S., less than 3% profess the Lord as Savior.  Less than 3%!!

Europe’s needs Jesus!

AND speaking of percentages:    50%

Today our monthly commitments and cash budget stand at 50%!  Many, many THANKS to our friends who have caught the vision & partnered with us.

BUT there’s something about 50% that just isn’t quite complete...like, say, 100% is.  Please Join the Movement today & help us BREAK 3% in Europe!

The world has come to Europe’s doorstep! Businesspeople, students, immigrants.
FEIC is accelerating the work of the Gospel among Europe´s diverse international population. Many will stay for a lifetime, others will return to their countries with what they have and acquired.
It is our prayer, it is our task that they remain or return home with a personal relationship with Jesus
.
